SCOTTY ROBERTS AWARD: 2011 Recipient

Deb BrekkeCongratulations to the 2011 recipient of the Scotty Roberts Award, Marlys Fisher! She did not receive only one nomination but two! The following is what was written about Marlys and her enthusiasm for her career.

“Marlys untiringly works to promote UPCRA through her positive attitude, enthusiasm and constant high level of professionalism. Her self-motivation and drive has allowed her to be successful as a professional and encourages others to do the same. Over the past years during her presidency, Marlys has made many improvements to our organization. She recently implemented ‘Job Descriptions’ for the board positions. She serves on the Education Committee to assist in improving and promoting learning opportunities for our members. She shows she is only interested in the success of our association for the present and the future by making sure committee positions are filled with active members and recruitment of new board members that represent both ND and SD. Marlys constantly lives the concept of health promotion in her daily life with her family, friends, and her work. Marlys truly leads by example.”

“I would like to nominate Marlys Fisher from Trinity Health, my co-worker and current UPCRA President. In addition to being President, she has been Past Education Committee Chair, as well as having served UPCRA in other capacities for many years. She has done an outstanding job organizing the UPCRA Policy and Procedure book, as well as having lead the role in organizing the Tri-Network Conference last spring and the UPCRA Spring Conference this year.”

Marlys is a registered nurse and is certified through ACSM as a clinical exercise specialist. She works in both Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab at Trinity Health in Minot, ND. She received the Scotty Robert’s Award at the UPCRA Annual Spring Conference on April 14, 2011. She was presented with a plaque and a check for $100 from UPCRA.
