Pulmonary rehabilitation (rehab) is a program specifically designed for persons with chronic lung disease, such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, and interstitial lung disease. The overall goal of pulmonary rehabilitation is to help people achieve their optimal functional capacity. This is accomplished through education, breathing retraining, exercise and conditioning, and optimizing medical management.
